New confocal sensors for precise distance and thickness measurements
2020-07-31
The next generation of confocal sensors from Micro-Epsilon is designed to precisely determine distances and the thickness of transparent materials. The confocalDT IFS2407-3 and the confocalDT IFS 2404/90-2 solve multiple new measurement tasks involving curved surfaces and restricted installation spaces with serial applications. Combined with the confocalDT controllers, confocal systems from Micro-Epsilon achieve measuring rates up to 70 kHz.
Measurements on curved surfaces
State-of-the art technology with the confocalDT IFS2407-3 offers a high tilt angle up to ± 30°. Therefore, curved and structured surfaces can be detected reliably and precisely. Furthermore, the sensor offers a large measuring range of 3 mm, a numerical aperture (NA) of 0.43 and a high offset distance of 28 mm. Combined with a large tilt angle, these sensors are ideally suited to geometrical inspection tasks in coordinate measuring machines. Particularly when measuring surfaces such as gear wheels or external threads, stable and highly precise results are output.
Tight installation spaces in serial applications
The IFS2404/90-2 is designed to detect displacement, distance, position and thickness in restricted installation spaces. It offers a measuring range of 2 mm with a resolution of 0.040 µm. The sensor has a beam path of 90°. This construction with radial beam path enables space-saving integration into restricted installation spaces with reduced mounting depth. Due to its excellent price/performance ratio, the sensor is particularly suited to serial applications.
Customer-specific modifications
If customer-specific adaptions are required to solve a measurement task, the sensors can be modified accordingly.
This includes, for example, design modifications, different cable lengths, vacuum-suitable materials or special mounting options.
